Your refund will go back to the card linked to your digital wallet—automatically and securely.
If you paid using Apple Pay, Google Pay, or another digital wallet, you can still receive a Reshop refund to your original payment method. Your refund will automatically go to the correct card that's linked to your wallet.
How digital wallet refunds work
When you pay with a digital wallet like Apple Pay or Google Pay, your wallet uses your actual credit or debit card to complete the purchase—it just keeps your card details secure by using a substitute number.
When you get a refund to your original payment method:
- The refund automatically routes back to the same card that's linked to your digital wallet
- You don't need to do anything special or select which card to refund
- The refund appears on your card statement just like any other refund would
Timing: The refund is processed instantly through the retailer and typically appears on your card within 3-5 business days, depending on your card issuer.
Why the card numbers might look different
You might notice that the card number shown during the refund process doesn't match the card number you see on your physical card. This is completely normal and expected.
Here's why: Digital wallets use a secure substitute number (sometimes called a "token") instead of your actual card number when you make a purchase. This substitute number is specific to your device and helps keep your real card information safe.
What this means for your refund: Even though the numbers look different, the refund will still go to the correct card. The payment system automatically matches the substitute number back to your actual card, so your funds ends up in the right place.
What you'll see in the Reshop app: To avoid confusion, we display your refund destination as "Refunded to your Original Payment Method" rather than showing the substitute card number. The important thing is that your refund is going to the right card—the one linked to your wallet.
Which digital wallets work with Reshop?
Reshop refunds to original payment method work with digital wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay.
As long as you paid with a digital wallet that's linked to a valid credit or debit card, you can receive your refund back to that payment method.
Do I need to add a backup payment method?
Yes. When you choose to receive your refund to your original payment method (including digital wallet payments), you'll need to provide a backup debit or credit card. This protects both you and the retailer by ensuring your return is completed as expected.

Frequently asked questions
What if I've removed the card from my digital wallet? Your refund will still process correctly. The refund goes to your actual card (not your digital wallet), so even if you've removed the card from Apple Pay or Google Pay, the funds will appear on your card account.
What if I've deleted my digital wallet or switched phones? No problem. Since the refund goes to your underlying card, changing devices or deleting your digital wallet won't affect the refund. The funds goes to your card account, not to the wallet app.
Can I see which specific card will be refunded? If you're unsure which card you used, you can usually check your original purchase confirmation email from the retailer or review your transaction history in your digital wallet app. Our support team can also help confirm the payment method on file.
What if my card has been replaced since the purchase? Most card issuers can still route refunds to replaced cards (for example, if you got a new card with a new expiration date but the same account). If your card account is completely closed, contact our support team for assistance.
Will the refund appear in my digital wallet app? The refund goes to your card account, not your digital wallet app. You'll see it on your card statement or in your bank/credit card account, but it may not show up as a separate notification in your wallet app.
