Get your refund back on the same card you used at checkout—instantly processed and available in 3-5 business days.
When you choose to receive your Reshop refund to your original payment method, your funds are returned to the same card you used when you made your purchase. This works just like a traditional refund from the retailer, but faster.
How it works
1. Select "Original Payment Method" when choosing your refund
During the refund process, you'll see the option to receive your refund back on the card you used at checkout.
2. Provide a backup payment method
You'll need to add a backup debit or credit card. This protects both you and the retailer by ensuring your return is completed as expected.

3. Your refund is processed instantly
As soon as you complete your refund request, Reshop processes the refund through the retailer immediately. You don't need to wait for your items to be received first.
4. Funds appear on your card in 3-5 business days
Your refund will typically show up on your original payment card within 3-5 business days, depending on your bank or card issuer's processing time.
5. Ship your items within 7 days
After receiving your refund, you have 7 days to ship your items back to the retailer using the provided return label.
What types of payments can receive refunds to original payment method?
Refunds to original payment method work with:
- Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover)
- Debit cards
- Buy Now, Pay Later services (Affirm, Klarna, Afterpay) - Your installment plan will be updated or closed according to your BNPL provider's terms
- Digital wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc.) - Your refund automatically goes to the underlying card linked to your wallet
Is this option available for my return?
Refunds to original payment method are available for eligible returns at select retailers. The option will appear during your refund process if it's available for your specific return.
Not all returns or retailers offer this option. If you don't see it when requesting your refund, you can choose from other available refund methods like Reshop Card, debit card, or bank account.
What happens if I don't ship my items?
If you don't ship your items within 7 days:
- Your backup payment method will be charged to reverse the refund
- Non-shipment charges will apply
- The refund you received on your original payment card will remain there
Shipped late? If you complete your return after the 7-day window, Reshop will automatically refund the reversal charge back to your backup payment method once we confirm your return was completed.
