Your refund will be sent back to the card linked to your digital wallet automatically and securely.
If you paid using Apple Pay, Google Pay, or another supported digital wallet, your refund can be issued to your original payment method. The refund is automatically routed to the card linked to your digital wallet.
How digital wallet refunds work
When you pay with a digital wallet such as Apple Pay or Google Pay, your wallet uses your underlying credit or debit card to complete the purchase while keeping your card details secure.
When your retailer issues your refund through a Reshop-powered return experience:
- The refund is automatically routed back to the card linked to your digital wallet.
- You don't need to select which card should receive the refund.
- The refund appears on your card statement like any other retailer refund.
- Your refund is instantly issued, powered by Reshop, and typically appears on your card within 3 to 5 business days, depending on your card issuer.
Why the card numbers might look different
You may notice that the card number shown during the refund process doesn't match the number printed on your physical card. This is expected.
Digital wallets use a secure substitute card number (sometimes called a token) instead of your actual card number when you make a purchase. This helps protect your payment information.
Even though the numbers look different, your refund is still sent to the correct card. The payment network automatically matches the substitute card number to your underlying payment card.
During the refund process, you'll simply see that your refund is being sent to your original payment method.
Which digital wallets are supported?
Refunds to the original payment method are supported for eligible purchases made using digital wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay.
As long as your digital wallet is linked to a valid credit or debit card, your refund can be returned to that payment method.
Do I need to add a backup payment method?
Yes. When receiving your refund to your original payment method, including purchases made with a digital wallet, you'll need to provide a valid backup debit or credit card.
A backup payment method helps protect both you and the retailer by ensuring your return is completed as expected.

Frequently asked questions
What if I've removed the card from my digital wallet?
Your refund will still be routed to the underlying card account, even if you've removed the card from your digital wallet.
What if I've deleted my digital wallet or switched phones?
That's okay. Your refund is sent to the underlying card account, not to your device or wallet.
Can I see which specific card will receive the refund?
If you're unsure which card you used, check your purchase confirmation from the retailer or your transaction history in your digital wallet. Our support team can also help confirm the payment method used for your purchase.
What if my card has been replaced since I made my purchase?
Most card issuers can still route refunds to replacement cards. If your card account has been closed, contact our support team for assistance.
